VSI signal routing

  • Manage and control heterogeneous environments
  • Switch analog and digital signal transmissions
  • Simple to operate with VSI client software
  • Use presets for specified application scenarios
  • Allows peripheral premises management technology (lighting, alarm, access etc.) to be integrated

VSI signal routing

A very particular strength of the VSI systems is the management and control of heterogeneous environments in which analog and digital signals and devices are used in equal measure. The following scenario describes an environment of this type and the concept for the solution implemented.

Several imaging methods are used in this operating room. The necessary image signals have to be displayed on certain monitors depending on the procedure. Switching is performed by a matrix which passes incoming video signals to the monitors and the connected encoder systems to digitize images and videos. Both the matrix and the encoders receive their control commands from the VSI server via the network. Entries made by the user via the VSI client user interface on the touchscreen or PC workstation are likewise received by the VSI server and converted into the corresponding actions. All this is hidden from the user - it makes no difference to him whether he switches video to one of the local monitors or to a beamer in the remote auditorium. The necessary input is always the same: select image source, select destination - that's it. The VSI system performs the conversion. In addition to the digitization of image signals, the encoders used can also receive control and alarm signals, process them and pass them on to other devices. In this case, for example, an extra encoder is used to control room lighting. The control for this is incorporated in the VSI client as an individual graphical dialogue.
